Yoon Joon-byung (pictured), a member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Jeonbuk Jeongeup City & Gochang County), submitted a proposal for the "Special Act on Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries" last October 10. The proposal includes the establishment of a legal basis to systematically secure and manage fishing performance data and to apply the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) system stably based on this data, thereby transitioning to an output-centered fisheries resource management system. It mandates the normal operation of fishing vessel location transmitters, institutionalizes the reporting system for daily catch and processing performance, and requires mandatory reporting of landing and landing performance at designated locations to increase the transparency of fishing activities and structurally block the circulation of illegal catches.
