In Tajikistan, lemon exports increased by 65% in 2023 compared to the previous year, leading to a tripling of lemon prices. Despite difficulties from abnormal cold affecting lemon plantations in the previous year, the republic’s citrus growers managed to produce a high harvest of lemons, with some sources indicating a figure of up to 10 thousand tons. Lemon cultivation in Tajikistan is mainly done in trenches and greenhouses, with the most popular variety being the Meyer type and the Khatlon region producing over 80% of the country's lemons.
