Life is not sweet: honey production in Kazakhstan has decreased by a third, and its price has increased by 10% in a year

In August 2024, honey prices in Kazakhstan increased by 1.2% compared to the previous month and by 10.4% compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the industry analytical portal Energyprom.kz. According to the information, in January-July 2024, only 91 tons of honey were produced in the country, compared to 132 tons a year earlier. The bulk came from Shymkent - 82 tons. 4 tons of honey were produced in Almaty and in the North Kazakhstan region, another 1 ton - in the Kostanay region. In total, by the end of 2023, 33 thousand centners of honey were sold in Kazakhstan - 2.3 times more than a year earlier. In particular, sales of agricultural enterprises increased by 2.3 times, to 16.5 thousand centners, agricultural enterprises - by 23.3%, to 5.9 thousand centners, and individual entrepreneurs and peasant or farm households - by 4.6 times, to 10.6 thousand centners.
