The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held the "2025 Republic of Korea Our Wine Festival" from the 14th to the 16th at the aT Center Exhibition Hall 1 in Seocho District, Seoul.
The event, now in its 15th year, was held to inform consumers about the value of Korean wine and to promote the related industry. This year, 122 Korean wine manufacturers set up 152 booths, the largest number of participants in the event's history, to showcase the charm of Korean wine. The festival also featured an "Our Wine Auction Show" where consumers could purchase limited edition Korean wines, and a "Korean Wine Class" where participants could make makgeolli using godu (rice cakes).
The opening ceremony on the first day was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong, aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation) President Hong Moon-pyo, Korea Makgeolli Association President Kyung Ho-ki, Korea Traditional Folk Liquor Association President Na Jang-yeon, and Korea Food Masters Association President Yoo Cheong-gil.
The Korean Wine Tasting Awards ceremony was also held. "Cheonbihyang Yakju 15 degrees" by agricultural corporation Joeunsul won the President's Award in the medicinal liquor category. Five products, including "Tiger Yuja Makgeolli" by Bae Hye-jeong Do, received the Grand Prize. Six products, including "Strawberry Makgeolli" by Sungsu Wine Distillery, won the Excellence Award, and six products, including "Cheongmaju Takju" by Jungwondang, won the Merit Award.
In his opening remarks, Minister Song said, "Korean wine is now moving beyond tradition to become a new industry that the world is paying attention to. As K-Food (Korean Food) is gaining global attention these days, we will actively promote the export of Korean wine to help it gain a foothold in the global market."
