There has been a noticeable increase in the global demand for sea delicacies, as highlighted by the Federal Agency for Fishery and supported by data from the All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters (VARPE). Russian markets have particularly seen a surge in the supply and import of premium seafood products such as lobsters, oysters, cuttlefish, octopuses, and fish fillets in 2021, with significant growth compared to the previous year. This trend is attributed to reduced travel due to the pandemic and a shift towards healthier eating habits. As the pandemic continues to influence consumer behaviors in 2022, this growth in imports of high-end seafood products is expected to persist, reflecting a broader global trend.
