The extension of the US embargo on Russian fish exports continues to have a negative impact on Russian exporters. The Association of Fishing Fleet Owners (ASRP) explained how the situation has affected fish exports from the country. Before the embargo, the US was one of the key markets for Russian fish exporters. Therefore, losing it cannot be described as painless. The shipments of crustaceans were particularly significant. In 2021, Russia exported 31.8 thousand tons of crab to the US, worth about $1.2 billion (out of a total fish export value of just over $7 billion in 2021). The main volume was frozen opilio crab (18.8 thousand tons) and Kamchatka crab (12.9 thousand tons), in which Russia was a key partner of the US.
