The Spanish agricultural Minister, Luis Planas, has expressed satisfaction over Morocco's decision to permit the import of fresh sheep and goat meat from Spain. This decision is set to strengthen the already robust trade relations between the two countries. The ministers' positive discussions during the XII meeting of the Centre for Advanced Agronomic Studies of the Mediterranean (Ciheam) in Rabat underscored the growth in Spain's sheep and cattle exports to Morocco, making it the primary destination for such exports outside the EU. The trade has been buoyed by the positive trend in the exchange of live animals, with Morocco now the leading market outside the EU for sheep and cattle.
