The General Department of Customs reported a significant decline in fabric export turnover in the first half of the year, with a 46% drop to 23.6 million USD. Major markets like China, Japan, and the UK saw decreases of 62%, nearly 4%, and 16%, respectively. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association attributes this decline to a sharp decrease in lychee supply due to crop failure, with 2024's output expected to be around 200,000 tons, a 50% reduction from the previous year. Major lychee-producing regions Bac Giang and Hai Duong reported significant drops in harvest, causing lychee prices to surge to record highs domestically.
