The South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has suspended the import quarantine of Irish beef due to an outbreak of BSE, or 'mad cow' disease, in Ireland. The suspension was implemented after the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed a case of BSE in a 15-year-old cow. The South Korean Ministry is waiting for more information from Ireland to evaluate the situation and decide whether to lift the quarantine. No Irish beef has been distributed in the South Korean market since its import was permitted in May.
