KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 5): Global logistics group AP Moller–Maersk A/S has officially launched its largest contract logistics facility in the Asia-Pacific region, the Maersk Mega Distribution Centre, in Shah Alam.

In a statement, Maersk said the 180,000 sq m facility expands its warehousing footprint in Malaysia by more than 30%, and is designed to handle a range of commodities including fast-moving consumer goods, food and beverage products, footwear, and apparel. “It is a testament to Maersk’s commitment to building an efficient, technology-driven, sustainable and resilient supply chain and to positioning Malaysia as a logistic powerhouse within Asean,” said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, who officiated the launch on Wednesday. The location of the mega distribution centre in Shah Alam offers direct connectivity to major highways including the North-South Expressway, Elite Highway and the Shah Alam Expressway, noted Maersk. The location also gives the facility access to Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, ensuring optimal transit times for customers, the company noted.
