In September, the country experienced a significant decrease in sugar imports by 35.52% in value and 25.09% in volume year-on-year, with the total import value amounting to US$210 million and the volume reaching 403,700 tons. Despite this monthly decline, the first nine months of the year witnessed a notable increase in sugar imports, with a 39.58% rise in value and a 36.94% increase in volume year-on-year, totaling US$1.607 billion and 2.8937 million tons, respectively. The top ten countries for sugar imports, including Brazil, accounted for 99.61% of the total imports, with Brazil being the largest market.
