The Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port plans to update its infrastructure by 2026 in order to increase cargo turnover by 10%. The Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of Dagestan, Dzhambulat Salavov, announced this plan, stating that the updating will include an access road, railway connection, and construction of a grain terminal. The port's strategic location allows for development of export and logistics activities to other regions of Russia and foreign countries, with the volume of cargo transshipment increasing from 14 types of goods in 2022 to 20 types in 2023.
