Recently, the Johor State Government and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) collaborated to establish a "Durian Collection, Processing, Packaging, and Sales Center" (CPPDC) in Tangkak, planning to regularly purchase durians from orchards and agricultural institutions in the Tangkak, Muar, and Segamat regions during periods of oversupply in Johor State to stabilize market prices and supply chains.
Johor State's durians can be harvested almost year-round, with the main production season from June to August, sometimes experiencing oversupply. In contrast, March and September are periods of lower production, during which durian prices rise.
According to the introduction, the center has been basically completed and partially operational since last year, with full operation expected to commence this year. The center will purchase durians of all grades, including famous varieties such as Musang King, D13, IOI, Bamboo Leg, Black Thorn, and Golden Phoenix. After freezing or processing, durians will be supplied to the market year-round, dispelling the notion that Grade A durians are only for export.
