Mexico's mango exports experienced a significant growth of 30.3% from January to April 2021, reaching 108,700 tons and valued at $127.1 million, a 57.8% increase compared to the previous year. This growth comes amidst global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused delays and interruptions in trade, leading to unsold and wasted produce for less marketable and more perishable fruits like mangoes, papayas, and pineapples. The export of mangoes, mangosteens, and guavas saw a 4.9% decrease from January to July 2020, largely due to reduced shipments from Thailand and Brazil to their main markets. Despite these challenges, Mexico's total exports of these fruits in 2020 increased by 2% to 421,600 tons, with a value of $457 million, marking a 4% annual increase.
