Currently, the animal welfare regulations in the European Union are extremely fragmented, with more than 430 different laws in force across the 27 member states, concerning various livestock sectors. This creates unequal competition for farmers and makes it difficult to consistently implement and enforce the rules. Additionally, the current EU regulations do not allow for the rapid adjustment of animal welfare requirements to scientific, technological, and social progress. The Una Terra Foundation conducted a representative survey on this topic in our country, with the participation of a thousand people, as stated in their announcement. According to the research results, an average of 67% of respondents support the tightening of animal welfare regulations.
