The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) in Brazil is planning to regulate the production and distribution of plant-based food products to manage the growing alternative protein market. The ministry conducted a public subsidy collection to gather opinions, which highlighted the need for transparency and clarity in product information, including product names, sustainability aspects, and health benefits. The final report included 332 contributions from the food sector and consumers. The ministry aims to establish fair competition in the market and position Brazil as a leading country in alternative proteins, addressing the concern of insufficient animal protein for the world's population in the future.
