The Spanish Mediterranean trawl fleet has been granted an additional 853 fishing days for deep-sea red shrimp fishery by the European Commission, as a result of negotiations with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. This allocation is for vessels that have voluntarily switched to more selective nets with a mesh size of 50 millimeters. Combined with previous allocations, Spain now has a total of 89,292 fishing days for 2023.
