The Colombian government has approved the export of coconut seeds from Brazil, marking the fifth market opening for Brazilian agricultural products in Colombia within a year. The other authorizations include hydrolyzed chicken protein, pork fats, fish meal, and fish oil. In 2023, Colombia imported over US$1.37 billion worth of agricultural products from Brazil. This development is part of a broader strategy by the Brazilian government, led by President Lula, to expand agricultural markets, resulting in 62 market openings in 2023 and 140 in 51 countries since the start of Lula's third term.
