Hot and dry weather in Southern and Eastern Europe has negatively impacted spring crops such as corn, sunflower, and soybeans. While in Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, southern Ukraine, and Turkey, the ongoing drought has caused irreversible damage to the crop. Heat and lack of rainfall have reduced yield expectations also in Hungary and eastern Croatia. Meanwhile, in Western and Northern Europe, conditions were more favorable. In Spain, Portugal, Italy, northern France, the Benelux countries, Germany, and Poland, sufficient rainfall and moderate temperatures (despite some periods of intense heat) have contributed to the development of summer crops, and the expected yield will be at the level of the average 5-year index or even higher. Pasture conditions in Northern Europe are also good. The winter crop season has almost ended, and its results generally confirm our previous positive forecasts.
