Brazil's cattle slaughter increased by 11.9% in the 3rd quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, with 7.85 million animals slaughtered. Mato Grosso led the slaughter, followed by São Paulo, Goiás, and Mato Grosso do Sul. The quarter produced 2.13 million tons of beef carcasses, a 11.6% increase from the same quarter of the previous year. Q3 2022 saw the highest quarterly shipments of fresh beef, with records for August and September, as export volume and revenue also increased by 7.4% and 18.1%, respectively. China remained the main destination for Brazilian beef exports, absorbing 65.9% of the product.
