In May 2023, Vietnam experienced an increase in cashew nut exports, reaching the highest level since July 2021. The country exported 57.42 thousand tons of cashew nuts, valued at $340.39 million, representing an 11.7% increase in volume and 11.4% increase in value compared to April 2023. However, Vietnam is facing competition in the Chinese market, with China reducing its cashew imports from Vietnam and increasing imports from other countries such as Benin, Ivory Coast, Cambodia, and Togo. Additionally, Ivory Coast has become the world's leading producer of cashew nuts, with an expected output of 1.25 million tonnes in 2023.
