(Suncheon=Yonhap News) Reporter Son Sang-won = Utilizing local specialty products to foster mutual benefit between farms and the company, Korean McDonald's has introduced a Suncheon plum drink.
Suncheon City announced on the 13th that a new McDonald's drink, "Suncheon Plum McFizz," has been launched.
The drink, which highlights the crisp and refreshing taste of Suncheon plums, will be sold exclusively at McDonald's locations until the 17th of next month.
Korean McDonald's announced the launch of the new product on the 10th via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, posting "That thing on every household's veranda... opening on August 11" along with the hashtag "Suncheon Plum."
An official from Suncheon City expressed hope that the excellent quality and unique taste of Suncheon plums will be widely known to consumers across the country and serve as an opportunity to increase income for local farmers.
Suncheon City stated that this year's production of Suncheon plums is approximately 3,000 tons, and they plan to expand the consumer base by developing various processed products and increasing sales channels.
