In January 2023, Brazil became the second-largest importer of Paraguayan beef, surpassing Russia with 2,404 tons of beef worth USD 13.2 million, marking an 85% increase in value and a 45.2% increase in quantity compared to the same period in 2022. This shift is largely due to logistical and financial challenges in Russia, caused by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Chile remained the top market, absorbing 28.5% of Paraguay's beef exports in January. Overall, Paraguay exported 22,957 tons of beef in January, generating USD 106.1 million, despite experiencing a slight decrease in total export value compared to January 2022.
