In the third week of September 2024, Poland experienced an increase in the prices of livestock and poultry. Pig purchase prices rose by 1% from the previous week and 3% from the month before, but were 13% lower than the same period in 2023. Pork sales prices also increased by 2% from the previous week and 4% from the month before. Live cattle prices increased by PLN 0.02/kg to PLN 10.06/kg, and slaughter cattle prices were 1% more expensive than a month and a year earlier. Compensated beef quarters from bulls up to 2 years old were sold for PLN 20.83/kg, which is 1% more expensive than the previous week and month, and 2% higher than the same period in 2023. However, broiler chicken prices were 21% lower, and goose prices were 28% lower than the previous year. Poultry plants sold gutted chicken carcasses at PLN 9.46/kg, which is 13% more expensive than the previous week and 8% more than a month ago, while turkey carcasses were sold at PLN 13.79/kg, which was 1% lower than a week and a month earlier.
