In the first half of 2024, German commercial slaughterhouses saw a 1.3% increase in meat production, totaling almost 3.4 million tons, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This includes a slight increase in pork production, with a 0.4% rise in the number of pigs slaughtered and a 1.1% increase in pork volume compared to the previous year. Beef production also saw a 1.3% increase, and there was a 1.3% rise in poultry meat production, despite a minimal increase in the number of animals slaughtered. Pork continued to dominate with a 62.0% share of total meat production.
