Melon exports: Morocco takes 11th place in the world

Morocco's melon exports reached 50.53 million kilos in 2019, making the Kingdom the world's eleventh largest exporter of melons. The latter sold at an average price of € 1,056 / kg, or 48.52% more expensive than those in Spain, due to their quality. With 50.53 million kilos of melons exported in 2019, Morocco received an amount of 53.36 million euros or 533 million dirhams, which allowed it to obtain the ninth place in the world, as regards income, according to data prepared by Hortoinfo of the United Nations Statistics Division (UN). For the price, Morocco is in fourth place. Indeed, Moroccan melons, because of their quality, are among the most expensive with an average price of € 1,056 / kg. The Kingdom intended its exports mainly to France with 35.69 million kilos, to Spain 6.56 million kilos and to Mauritania 3.71 million kilos, which are like its three main customers.
