REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Trade Minister Budi Susanto stated that the government will encourage the increase in production and distribution of alternative cooking oil or second brand to reduce market dependency on cooking oil for the people or Minyakita. Budi conveyed that this step is taken because the supply of Minyakita is considered limited, along with the domestic market obligation (DMO) mechanism which depends on the volume of crude palm oil (CPO) exports. When exports decrease, the supply obligation for the domestic market is also limited. "We will increase the second brand, so there are companion oils to Minyakita," said Budi in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/2/2026). He explained that before the Minyakita program, the portion of second brand cooking oil in the market could reach about 50 percent.
