REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman asserted that by 2025 Indonesia will not import rice, proving the hard work of domestic farmers in maintaining national food sovereignty, ensuring it remains strong. Interviewed in the area of the DPR RI Senayan Jakarta, Wednesday (3/9/2025), Andi said the conditions this year are different from 2024 when Indonesia imported three to four million tons of rice. "It is the result of our work. Indonesian farmers, I thank Indonesian farmers. Leading us to not import (rice) at this moment," said Amran. According to him, this achievement is the success of the collective work of Indonesian farmers who are able to maintain national rice production so that the stock is kept at a safe level for the needs of the community. He mentioned that the national rice stock in September 2025 reached about four million tons, much higher compared to the same period last year which only ranged from one to two million tons.
