The average value of slaughtered cattle in Mercosur countries, as represented by the Mercosur Steer Faxcarne Index, has reached its highest level since early May 2023. The index rose 11 cents in a week to US$ 3.58 per kilo carcass. The stable local currency in Argentina has contributed to this increase, as has the stability in export prices to Chile. In Brazil, the average value of fatted boi in the main exporting states also increased, despite a falling exchange rate. The price of cattle for slaughter in Paraguay also increased due to rising export prices to Chile, and in Uruguay, the references returned very close to maximums of late August. In Argentina, the export price of steer remained stable in local currency but fell 2 cents in weekly dollars to 4.06 per kilo.
