Mexico is set to achieve a four-year high in cattle exports, shipping approximately 1.4 million cattle mainly to the United States, as the US experiences a decrease in its herd due to cow slaughter. This situation has elevated the demand for calves, leading to record-high sale values of nearly $100 pesos per kilogram for animals destined for export. Despite these increased values, the national cattle prices in Mexico have risen to $60 pesos per kg., with variations depending on the region, but are not expected to significantly affect end consumers. CNOG predicts that Mexico's cattle production will reach 2.3 million tons in 2024, a slight increase from 2.2 million tons in the previous year, thanks to strategic American beef imports that have stabilized the domestic market and prevented drastic price fluctuations for consumers.
