The National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) of Peru has announced successful negotiations with India's Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Welfare of Farmers for the export of citrus fruits and fresh blueberries. Following a public consultation period, India has published the necessary phytosanitary requirements for importation. SENASA will ensure compliance through phytosanitary certification, requiring products to be sourced from certified fields and packed in authorized facilities. Exports will also undergo cold treatment to prevent quarantine pests. This opens up a significant market for Peruvian producers, with India being the second most populous country in the world. Peruvian is already the leading global exporter of blueberries and the sixth largest exporter of citrus.
