The policy being carried out by the government of Javier Milei regarding the yerba mate production sector added a new victim in recent hours, as the Andresito Cooperative, one of the most representative in the yerba mate world, officially announced that it has begun a process of cessation of payments "due to the current economic situation." This is the first major cooperative from Misiones to be affected by the economic crisis, but it is not the first victim of national policies towards the sector: small and medium-sized yerba mate producers were the first, who have been denouncing since December 2023 that the production sector was entering a crisis like the one experienced in the 90s and exposed to marginality hundreds of Misiones settlers and their families, who have yerba mate as their main activity.
