Pearl Dairy Farm, the maker of Lato Milk, is urging stakeholders in Uganda's dairy sector to invest to tap into the sector's potential to generate value-added revenue. CEO Amit Sagar launched Project Prosperity, aimed at increasing production and income, and called for investment in quality production and consistent milk supply. He pointed out that Uganda's milk production per cow is low due to poor diet and lack of knowledge, but the country has potential for billions of liters of milk for export annually. The dairy sector, which is one of Africa's biggest milk exporters, could earn a billion dollars over the next decade, according to Sagar. The sector needs to reduce production costs and stabilize producer prices for both the producer and the processor.
