Major global milk producers have experienced a decrease in production due to smaller supplies in the USA and Argentina, although New Zealand saw a rebound. The European Union's production increased by 0.5% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2024, but there was a decrease in July and August. In contrast, Poland's production increased by 3.9% year-on-year. The value of Polish dairy exports increased by 0.5% year-on-year from January to August 2024, despite a significant decrease in exports to China. The higher prices of processed products and improved financial situation of the processing industry are expected to lead to increases in purchase prices. Record high prices of butter were reached in September 2024. The average milk purchase price in Poland is expected to be higher by 6 to 10% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024, and the annual dynamics in the first half of 2025 is expected to remain slightly positive.
