Milk will weigh on consumers' pockets until October in Brazil

Milk should remain off the Brazilian shopping list for a while longer. According to the Paulista Association of Supermarkets (APAS), the prices of milk and its derivatives should maintain the upward bias until at least the month of October. In 2022 alone, milk has already accumulated a 41.32% increase; in the last 12 months, the accumulated inflation is 36.9%. Among derivatives, the accumulated for the year is 14.74%, while the high in 12 months is 23.3%. The dairy products that registered the most increase are yogurt (+36.69% in 12 months) and margarine (+33.25% in the same period). Powdered milk recorded the lowest high in 12 months, 9.62%. However, APAS points to a reduction in the supply of the product in the national market – and the consequent increase in its price.
