(Milyang=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-min = On the 21st, it was reported that anthracnose damage has occurred in approximately 230 hectares of astringent persimmon farms in the Sangdong area of Milyang City, Gyeongnam Province.
The city estimated that the anthracnose rapidly spread due to frequent rain in September and October.
The city plans to closely assess the current status of the anthracnose outbreak and prepare response measures to minimize the damage.
In particular, considering that the pest damage is not recognized as a natural disaster, it is not included in the disaster relief fund or agricultural crop disaster insurance compensation, so the city intends to examine various support plans that can provide real help to farmers.
Mayor An Byeong-gu, who visited the farms affected by the anthracnose damage on the same day to check the damage situation, said, "We will find real support measures while sharing the pain of the affected farmers."
