Peru is set to begin exporting donkey meat and its derivatives, as well as donkey and horse skins to China starting July 1, 2024, after signing necessary health protocols with China's General Administration of Customs. However, local producers and breeders have expressed opposition to this plan, citing limited production of donkey meat due to traditional use of donkeys for transportation. The country is also planning to increase its agricultural exports, including table grapes by air, to over 11.5 billion dollars annually. Other products like pork and beef are being explored for the Chinese market.
