Chile has signed two protocols with China to facilitate the export of its products, including fresh fruit and pork meats. The protocol for fruit export will allow shipment through ports and airports in third countries, reducing transfer times and improving fruit condition. The pork products protocol will allow for the export of refrigerated pork and some frozen by-products, potentially developing the refrigerated industry and pork by-products sector. In 2023, Chile exported over 530 thousand tons of fresh fruit and more than US$ 5.8 billion worth of fruits to the world, 45% of which was to China. Pork product exports totaled over 260 thousand tons in volume and almost USD 700 million in value.
