The Ministry of Agriculture in Indonesia is promoting the downstreaming of finished products from sweet potato commodities, with a focus on the production of various processed food products from local sweet potato crops. The Director General of Food Crops, Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi, has identified potential areas for sweet potato development and emphasized the need for downstream industrialization to fully utilize farmers' produce. Thirteen derivative products, including tubers and leaves, are being developed to add value to sweet potato farming and support agricultural development. In 2019, Indonesia cultivated sweet potato on 79.2 thousand hectares of land, producing 1.52 million tons.
