The USDA's latest report reveals the impact of fluctuating weather on Minnesota's crop progress. Recent rainfall has been inconsistent with the usual schedule, leading to a delay in key developmental stages for both corn and soybeans. Corn silking is currently at 16%, five days behind last year and two days behind the average, but 58% of the crop is still rated as good to excellent. Soybean blooming is also behind schedule by a week, with 46% currently in bloom and 58% rated as good to excellent. Other crops such as oats, barley, and spring wheat are progressing, with barley more than 80% headed and spring wheat at 23% coloring. Sugarbeets are in good to excellent condition at 78%, and the second cutting of alfalfa has advanced to 38%.
