Moatrigo 2026 highlights challenges in the wheat supply chain.

The 2026 edition of the Moatrigo workshop brought together around 450 participants in Curitiba, this Monday (April 13), to discuss the main challenges of the wheat chain in Brazil. Promoted by Sinditrigo Paraná, the meeting highlighted a scenario of high costs, reduced planted area and growing dependence on imports. During the event, experts pointed out that the sector is facing a challenging moment, influenced by internal and external factors. In the international scenario, despite the still high supply, there are signs of an increase in futures contracts, driven by the prospect of a smaller global harvest, the historic reduction in planted area in the United States, and the appreciation of Argentine wheat. In Brazil, the situation is considered more sensitive. The 2025/26 season is expected to end with imports close to 7,1 million tons, while the 2026/27 crop is estimated to produce only 6,5 million tons—a volume below the country's productive potential.
