Mobilization initiated in Mostardas brings rice crisis to the agenda of Famurs

The initiative brought together mayors from rice-producing municipalities and had the support of representative entities of agribusiness, such as the Federation of Rice Growers Associations of Rio Grande do Sul (Federarroz), the Federation of Agriculture of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Farsul), and the Federation of Agricultural Workers (Fetag). The union of forces seeks to alert to the seriousness of the situation faced by producers, especially given the concern about the next harvest and the prices of rice, currently well below the cost of production. According to the president of the Council of Federarroz, Alexandre Velho, the movement has a state character and should expand to the other six rice regions of Rio Grande do Sul. “The strategy includes holding mobilizations in the chambers of councilors, with the aim of engaging mayors and local leaders to take the agenda to state and federal deputies,” he highlights.
