Cherry exporters from Moldova have received $20 million for their production in June, compared to $13 million in the same month of 2024, reported the local electronic publication EastFruit, without citing a source of information. According to the publication, however, exported volumes have decreased to around 8,000 tons from approximately 10,000 tons in June of last year. At the same time, the share of European Union member states in Moldova's cherry exports has increased to 28% from 16% last year, while for the Eurasian Economic Union countries it has decreased to 70% from 84%. The largest customers for Moldovan cherries in the EU are Italy, Croatia, and Denmark. Exports to Romania have also increased sharply - to 1,666 tons in June this year from 842 tons in the same month of 2024. According to data from the industry association Moldova Fruct, last year overall cherry exports from Moldova reached around 14,000 tons, including 2,300 tons in the EU, with revenues of around $18 ...
