The Mongolian aimag of Khuvsgol has entered into an agreement to supply 39,000 tons of beef and horse meat to the Republic of Buryatia in Russia, home to one of the largest meat processing plants. This deal was established between Khuvsgol's governor, Pilzhegiin Lkhagvazhav, and Buryatia's head, Alexei Tsydenov. Additionally, there are plans to train Mongolian students in agricultural specialties in Buryatia. This development follows the lifting of a ban by Rosselkhoznadzor in 2022, which now permits the import of certified Mongolian meat into Russia.
