Moquegua: Progress is being made on riverbank protection works in the province of Mariscal Nieto

The Regional Government of Moquegua supervised the progress of the first section of the riverbank protection work being carried out in the province of Mariscal Nieto, between the La Villa bridge and the El Rayo bridge. This section includes more than one kilometer of protective wall construction, which has already been completed in an integral manner. The riverbank protection project is a comprehensive project that is being developed in stages and, once completed, will protect around 1,200 hectares of agricultural land, as well as road infrastructure and populated sectors located in vulnerable areas of the province of Mariscal Nieto. The project demands a total investment of more than S/108 million and includes, in its first stage, the construction of 117 screens. In parallel, the sediment removal work in the riverbed has an advance of nearly 90% in the critical sectors identified.
