The Valencian Community's Department of Agriculture has allocated over 140,000 euros to compensate 21 citrus and persimmon farms for economic losses caused by the South African mealybug pest during the 2021-2022 campaign. This brings the total support to over 4 million euros between this year and next. The pest has significantly damaged the quality and quantity of citrus production. The funding is part of a larger initiative to support the Valencian agricultural sector against pests and diseases, with continued investment for more effective pest control methods.
