The Andalusian Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production Research and Training (Ifapa) held a day-long event in Jerez de la Frontera to present the results of the Andalusian Network for Agricultural Experimentation (RAEA) trials on extensive dryland herbaceous crops. In total, over 100 professionals from the sector, including producers, technicians, and representatives of agricultural associations and companies, were able to learn about the Ifapa's study advances this year on durum wheat, soft wheat, barley, oats, triticale, peas, and sunflower. In addition to the variety trials, the specialist technicians presented the first results of trials aimed at connecting barley producers with the industry. Specifically, this line of work seeks to develop sustainable strategies for obtaining malting barley with a special focus on nitrogen fertilization and seed sowing rates.
