Between January and September 2024, Mato Grosso exported 16.89 million tons of corn, with 10.28 million tons going through the ports of Arco Norte and the rest through Arco Sul. The increase in exports through Arco Norte is due to infrastructure investments, especially in the ports of Barcarena and Santarém. These ports exported 8.65 million tons of corn in 2024, which was 84.09% of the entire volume exported in the North region. However, the transportation of grain through the Tapajós River was suspended last week due to seasonal drought, although it is expected to normalize with the start of the rains.
