Brazil: More than 90 companies are authorized to sell corn to China

In the first two months of the year alone, more than 90 companies were authorized to export corn to China. They were authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) to sell grain to the Asian country during this period.
With the qualification, the number of companies authorized to export the product to China rises to 446. According to Mapa, the second largest economy on the planet is part of the strategy to boost corn exports, which should break a record this year and may exceed exports from the United States. In January, Brazilian corn exports rose 167% compared to the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services. China absorbed 15% of Brazilian sales. Until last year, Iran, Japan, Spain and Egypt were the main buyers of corn from Brazil. Since last year, it has been up to the Ministry of Agriculture to register Brazilian companies that meet the requirements established by China for corn exports.
