In 2020, Turkey led the world in sea bass and sea bream exports, generating $355.6 million and $311 million respectively. The Netherlands, UK, and Italy were the main importers. Fishery product exports saw a 12% increase in January 2021 compared to the same period last year, earning $100.8 million. Ufuk Atakan Demir, a board member of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, highlighted the high demand for fish as a healthy and controlled food source, and anticipated continued growth in exports.
